Police Lieutenant – School Resources

CLASS SUMMARY:

 

Provides direction and supervision for a section of Police Officers and Sergeants and are accountable for overall incident command at a crime scene. Responsibilities include supervising a section comprised of multiple units; organizing and planning required training; providing administrative and policy activities in support of operations; responding to and directing activities and procedures related to Police procedure; managing assigned projects; managing operational budgets; managing inventory; overseeing the investigation of criminal activities; and, performing special assignments.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Providing administrative oversight and command of the School Resources division
  • Managing accreditation program and updating Document Management System
  • Providing education and annual training
  • Coordinating special event security coverage
  • Conducting background checks for licenses and special permits approval

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer
  • Advanced Police Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
  • OR
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer
  • Master Police Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer
  • Advanced Police Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Applicant must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Applicant must have no felony convictions.
  • Applicant must have no D.W.I. or D.U.I.D. convictions within the last ten years.
  • Applicant must have no convictions of a crime of domestic violence.
  • Convicted of family violence involving physical contact within the past ten (10) years.
  • Admission of any illegal drug use within the past five (5) years, or use of marijuana within the past two (2) years.
  • Applicants must be of outstanding moral character as confirmed through a background investigation.
  • Applicant must have good employment and credit histories as confirmed through a background investigation.
  • If having served in the Armed Force, the applicant must have an honorable discharge.
