Crime Victim Assistance Program

Funding

The Victim Assistance Program receives funding from the Office of the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division ‘Victims of Crime Act’ (VOCA).

Goal

The goal of the Rosenberg Police Department’s Victim Assistance Program is to assist victims of crime and reduce the effects of short and long term trauma as a result of victimization.

Qualify for Assistance

To qualify for victim assistance, you must be a documented victim of a violent crime which took place within the city limits of Rosenberg, Texas.

Services

Services provided by the Crime Victim Assistance Program:

  • Assistance in filing for crime victim’s compensation through the Attorney General of Texas
  • Information and referral service for:
    • Community resources
    • Crime scene cleanup
    • Grief counseling
    • Legal aid
    • Crisis counseling
  • Justice support and procedures, including:
    • Accompany victim to court
    • Assistance with application process for Magistrate Order for Emergency Protection and protective orders
    • Information on the status of the investigation
  • Notification of victim rights
  • On-scene crisis intervention
  • Personal advocacy / support as necessary for:
    • Assistance with property return
    • Individual safety planning
    • Referrals to support agencies
  • Provide necessary needs to victims of crime
  • Serve as liaison between victims, law enforcement, and social service agencies

Crime Victim’s Compensation

If you are a victim of a violent crime who has suffered personal injuries, or you are a surviving family member of a deceased victim of a violent crime, you may be eligible for crime victim's compensation.
