Rosenberg City Council recently approved a grant program for businesses located within the City limits of Rosenberg affected by COVID-19. The Business Resiliency Grant is intended to assist small businesses in the City who have experienced significant revenue decline due to social distancing measures. The Program will pay for one month’s rent or mortgage for the business storefront within the city limits up to a maximum of $6,000 per eligible business.
Friday, May 1 – Application available on City website
Friday, May 8 at 10 a.m. – Application submittals accepted
Friday, May 8 through Expenditure of Funding – Review of applications; Email notifications to applications of acceptance or denial of funding
Friday, June 26 – Begin distribution of funds to approved recipients
In accordance with the Program and Resolution No. R-2938, the COVID-19 Business Resiliency Grant may provide direct cash assistance to businesses who meet the following qualifications and submit a complete and accurate application in a timely manner.
To be eligible for a grant, a business must:
-have an effective Texas Secretary of State registration date of on or before April 8, 2018;
-be operated for-profit;
-have a loss of revenue of 25 percent or more as a direct result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, as shown by appropriate profit-and-loss statements which allow comparison of monthly revenue in 2019 with corresponding monthly revenue in 2020 for one or more months affected by COVID-19 (i.e. March 2020
-been operating within the corporate limits of the City of Rosenberg prior to April 8, 2018;
-have a physical location within the City of Rosenberg’s city limits where business activity is conducted; provided, however, home-based businesses are not eligible;
-have a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN);
-have an active right to transact business in Texas as indicated by the franchise tax account status reported by the Texas Comptroller online using the FEIN;
-have a combined total of no less than 2 and no more than 25 part-time or full-time employees as of March 1, 2020;
– have applied for other state, federal, or lending-institution based financial resources on or after March 13, 2020;
-have a valid commercial Certificate of Occupancy ;
-have all applicable permits of the City of Rosenberg and of the State of Texas required to operate the business;
-have submitted a complete application;
-have executed an unsworn statement, under penalty of perjury, declaring that the eligibility information reported on the application is true and correct.
-Such grant shall only be used for either the payment of rent for the business premises or payment of a mortgage for the purchase of the business premises, and
-The maximum payment shall be the lesser of $6,000 or the actual rent or mortgage payment for one month only.
– This is a one-time grant with a maximum amount of up to $6,000.
-Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received and awarded until funds have been exhausted.
-All applications must be submitted electronically via email to firstname.lastname@example.org beginning at 10 a.m. on May 8, 2020.
