Airport Avenue Reconstruction Project Necessitates Lane Closure

The first phase of the Airport Avenue Reconstruction Project is anticipated to necessitate a lane closure as early as Thursday, February 20. This closure will restrict traffic to westbound only from FM 2218 to Longhorn Drive. Please see the project detour map [PDF] below for more information. Detour signage is in place, and drivers are asked to plan alternate routes and exercise caution if they are in the area.

The City of Rosenberg’s contractor on the project, Gonzalez Construction, began work in early February. The Airport Avenue Reconstruction project is part of the City of Rosenberg’s FY2014 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Phase I will span from FM 2218 to just west of Graeber Road and will improve the existing two-lane asphalt roadway with open roadside drainage ditches to a three-lane, concrete roadway with improved drainage. A continuous sidewalk will be added to the north side of the roadway within the project parameters, and improvements will also be made to water and sanitary sewer lines as required. Construction is anticipated to last through the summer.
