September 2014 marked 100 years of Rosenberg Fire Department (RFD) fighting fires and serving the community. With the humble beginnings of two hose carts and a few volunteers, Rosenberg has flourished into a force that is now 4 stations and 67 personnel.
The Fire Department’s century of service to the City of Rosenberg has made a huge impact on the well-being of the city from the day it was established. The original RFD was organized in 1914 by Mayor H.A. Meyer. The city of Rosenberg purchased a two wheel, hand drawn hose reel to be used by volunteers. In the next 50 years, the RFD obtained a modern fire truck, pumper, emergency car and the Central Fire Station was built. RFD’s more recent years have brought advancements at a much rapid pace with custom built Engines and a Ladder truck.
The Rosenberg Fire Department is committed to having a highly trained firefighting force, the best equipment, and a department that is acknowledged for its pride, integrity, and professionalism in providing services to the citizens of Rosenberg and all who enter our city.
